Britney is an inaugural Program Coordinator for the 1856 Project. Her career spans over ten years with each experience centering community-building, research and storytelling. She boasts proudly that she was raised by popular culture, molded by mass media and its intersections with history-at-large. Britney is a writer by trade, receiving her B.S. in Communications Media (Print Journalism) from Bowie State University and M.A. in Specialized Journalism from the University of Southern California. It was during her expedited time in graduate school that she realized her love of collecting memorabilia could translate into a professional pivot with impact. From 2022 to 2023, she served as a fellow at the Charlotta Bass Journalism and Justice Lab. Her areas of expertise include cultural criticism, narrative fiction and non-fiction, event curation and project management.
